The People Behind the Mission

The Board is comprised of dedicated volunteers who are active members of the Committee for Wyndham and deeply connected to the Wyndham community.

Each board member works in local business, bringing a wealth of expertise and a strong commitment to fostering the prosperity of our region. United by a shared passion for community development and economic growth, they tirelessly advocate for initiatives that enhance Wyndham’s social, cultural, and economic fabric.

We are immensely grateful for their support and voluntary contributions, which exemplify their dedication to making a meaningful impact and driving positive change across our diverse community.

CRAIG KENNEDY

Chair

Craig joined the Board in 2023 and is a lifelong resident of Wyndham. He serves as the Managing Director of Kenstra, an Information, Communications, and Technology firm known for delivering honest advice and effective solutions with integrity. A passionate advocate for the local community, Craig is dedicated to sports, fostering individual success, and promoting sustainable business practices. Previously, he served as the Chairman of Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club and is a graduate of the Australian

LESLEY ROGAN

Deputy Chair

Lesley joined the Board in 2022, bringing a wealth of experience from both the private and public sectors, along with a background in owning and operating several small businesses. Her career has consistently focused on commercial endeavours, including roles in Project Management, Business Development, and Event Management.

With over 25 years of experience in Local Government, she has served as the Coordinator of Economic Development at Wyndham City and currently works in the office of the CEO. A longtime resident of Wyndham, Lesley is passionate about ensuring the city continues to thrive and achieve economic prosperity.

JOHN SHEEN

Secretary

John joined the Board in 2019 and became Secretary in 2020. He is the Chief Operating Officer of the Wyndham Community & Education Centre, which has been serving the local community for over 45 years by providing a variety of education, settlement, and employment programs.

Barry Harrison

FRAG Committee Chair

Barry is a seasoned professional in the Leisure and Recreation industry, boasting over 30 years of diverse experience managing facilities across three states and two countries. His extensive portfolio includes leadership roles in large local government-owned venues such as leisure centres, stadiums, event centres, convention centres, theatres, an art gallery, and a cinema.

Throughout his career, Barry has excelled as a consultant, educator, and organisational coach, collaborating with government, not-for-profit, and commercial organisations to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. As a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, he combines practical expertise with academic credentials, holding a Bachelor Degree in Education and a Graduate Diploma in Innovation and Service Management. 

Katrina Bye

Board Member

Katrina joined the Board in 2022. Katrina is the Manager of Commercial Operations and International at The Gordon, working with industry on workforce education and training and skills development. Katrina has over 17 years’ experience in the Vocational Education Sector, with operational leadership skills specialising in account and stakeholder management, strategy and growth planning, client experience and project management.

Ryan Ling

Board Member

Ryan joined the Board in 2022. He is an innovative, customer-focused retail property professional with a hands-on approach and a passion for maximizing the potential of people and assets. With over 20 years of experience in leadership and management roles across various asset classes, including super-regional and CBD properties, Ryan currently serves as General Manager, where he oversees operations and future initiatives, for Pacific Werribee. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business Administration from Deakin University.

Professor Vasso Apostolopoulos OAM

Board Member

Vasso joined the Board in 2022. Growing up in Melbourne’s west, she brings over 30 years of experience in medical research focused on health and chronic diseases, having worked both internationally (in England and the USA) and across Australia (in Queensland, ACT, and Victoria). Passionate about her local community, Vasso returned to Melbourne’s west and is currently employed at RMIT.

Her extensive background includes roles at various medical research institutes and universities, where she has successfully translated vaccines and drugs into human clinical trials. This experience has allowed Vasso to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including organisations, trusts, foundations, government agencies, not-for profits, pharmaceutical companies, universities, researchers, medical professionals, and community organisations, to deliver and support medical health products and educational programs.

Vasso is dedicated to developing and translating medical products from the lab to the bedside to assist those suffering from chronic diseases. She is also actively involved in providing community and educational programs for people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

Wayne Butson – MEd, GradCertMgmtDev, GradDipEd, BA

Board Member

Wayne Butson is an accomplished leader in vocational education, recognised for his commitment to transforming lives through practical learning. With over 20 years at Victoria University, he has held key leadership roles and was honored with the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service. As Chief TAFE Officer, Wayne leads the TAFE division, overseeing diverse, industry-informed courses aimed at empowering learners from all backgrounds, especially those in underrepresented communities.

A strong advocate for equity and inclusion, Wayne champions initiatives against gender-based violence and fosters a culture where every individual is valued. Outside of his professional commitments, he is an avid sports lover and an active member of the Australian Lacrosse community, currently managing the Victorian Men’s State
